By Zephyr Roads
Hi, I’m Zephyr Roads I’ve been artist for few years now. I started by busking and street performing, traveling from city to city, and meeting as many people as possible. It was great riding buses, trains, and catching rides from random strangers and booking a last-minute flight with the money I had just made the night before.
Seeing all types of people, eating all types of food. Not giving a rat’s tail about nothing. However, when I decided to settle down in a city, find a band and start recording professional songs… That’s where everything changed. This is what worked for me.
- Live Streaming
Live streaming helped me gain thousands of followers in a matter of weeks. In the same live, I’ve gotten up to 4000 viewers. In that same live, I’ve gotten 200 followers or more.
- Open Mics
Open mics helped me launch my career as an artist. I would go perform and test songs out in front of an audience. It was very nerve-racking; however, it was worth it every time. To add, you can find other great artists/ musicians as well.
- Street Performing
I believe this is the best one in my humble experience. Busking in the same spot for a long period of time is a great way to build a fanbase. People will continue to come and support. While you’re busking, live stream your concerts. Yes, I said CONCERTS! Every performance is a concert, whether big or small. Everything counts!
- Flyers
Passing out flyers is a great way in the correct setting. When I go out and busk or perform at a gig, even an open mic. I have flyers that people can pick up. They might throw it away, but they still saw it. Having something in hand is important in this digital age, as it helps them remember.
- Memes/ Posting on social media
Yes, memes are a great way of promoting. Actually, it could be the most effective thing on this list. Last year, 80% of the top 200 Billboard songs were from TikTok. Just about every song that had a viral meme for it. That turned into a trend or some dance. One song in particular that has attracted massive amounts of attention was “Water” by Tyla.
This song alone had 1.4 million videos that used this song. Not views, streams, or likes, but 1.4 million videos or TikToks that contained this song. You can imagine how many streams this song got on Spotify and other platforms. Not only did the song go insanely viral, but it also won Tyla a Grammy.
SO GET TO WORK!!!
I LOVE YOU, I BELIEVE YOU. 🙂
